June 22, 2021: Calvary Pollinator Garden Project
DID YOU KNOW… many United Churches across Canada connect with nature through tending their gardens with both community vegetable gardens and those with an array of native plants…….Thinking of our homes as a sacred space as well, helps us to connect God with our day to day living…. and helps us foster our spiritual growth through nature.
On that note, some good news…
Calvary Pollinator Garden Project - Last summer, a small team began to tidy up the Calvary garden. A recent inventory showed an abundance of hosta and sedum plants. Our goal is to add plants to increase colour, diversity and make the garden pollinator friendly to attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. At a recent Green meeting, the Pollinator garden was identified as one of Calvary's "green" initiatives. With this in mind, we would be happy to give away some of the existing plants or exchange them for pollinator plants you might have (native plants preferred). Please contact Marlene at marlenemwyatt@gmail.com if you would like some of our existing plants or have any pollinator plants you are willing to donate. Also if you have some empty plant containers, they would be appreciated.
This is National Pollinator Week in Canada - let's celebrate! Here is the link to the website: https://pollinatorpartnership.ca/en/pollinator-week-canada. Some neat signs under the heading "Resources".
