Calvary Compass – April 18, 2023 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca

Dear Friends of Calvary,

It is amazing how the temperature can be 27 C and sunny and then drop to 5 C and rainy within a very brief period of time. All of our flowers are popping up and the buds and blossoms are already out. However our Green Team is advising us to not be out raking and disturbing our gardens and lawns just yet.

 Saturday, April 22nd, is Earth Day and there are several celebrations around the globe to honour achievements of the environmental movement and raise awareness of the need to protect Earth's natural resources for future generations. In London, EarthFest will have activities at the Central Library, Dundas Place and Citi Plaza. Green Sacred Space which Calvary is part of will be at the Central Library from 12 Noon to 5 pm. Information is available at www.earthfestlondon.ca/

Worship Services are all live-streamed:

Saturday, April 22nd – Earth Day

As we breath in the fresh air of the day on Saturday let us give thanks for this wonderful planet.

A prayer for Earth Day from The Cry of the Earth

God our Creator,

grant us the wisdom to care for the earth and all that is made new through it.

Help us to act now for the good of future generations and all your creatures.

founded on the covenant of your love.  Amen.

Psalm for the Week:

 Psalm 27: 1, 6 & 7 from Modern English Bible translation

        The Lord is my light and my salvation;

            whom will I fear?

        The Lord is the strength of my life;

            of whom will I be afraid?

        Now my head will be lifted up

            above my enemies encircling me;

        therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle;

            I will sing, yes, sing I will sing praises to the Lord.

Prayer for the Week:

        Almighty and eternal God,

        the strength of those that believe and the hope

        of those that have doubt, may we, who have not seen,

        have faith in you and receive the fullness of Christ's

        blessing, who lives with you and the Holy Spirit,

        one God, now and forever. Amen.
