Calvary Compass – April 23, 2025 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca
Dear Friends of Calvary,
It was wonderful to see so many people out on Sunday morning for our Easter Worship Service. The children enjoyed decorating cookies for everyone at our Coffee Hour. Thank you to Rev. Kerry for a wonderful service and the musical talents of the senior choir, Jim Hibbard, Katy Farrow and Kim Knowles.
Starting this coming Sunday (April 27th), our Sunday Worship Services will begin at 11:00 am. The Shared Collaborate Ministry starts on May 1st. This is a two-year plan and it will be evaluated on a regular basis by the three ministers and the two representatives from each of the four churches. Calvary's two representatives are Bill Butt and Kristen Goodman.
Please note that all donations for the Lenten Project were to be submitted by April 20th. Also those wishing to be baptized or become members were to have chatted with Rev. Kerry by April 20th.

We are sad to announce the unexpected death of Cathy Vossen this past Saturday. Cathy and her son Joshua became members of Calvary on June 18, 2023. We extend our condolences to Cathy’s husband Paul, her sister, Diane Maiolino, her brother, Mike Drabick, and the Vossen family during this difficult time.
" Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5: 4

UNDIE SUNDAY
Don't get your knickers in a knot!
Our Undie Sunday drive has begun. It will close on Sunday, May 18th. Mission Services of London stated their current needs as Men's Medium boxers, Women's Medium briefs, travel size toiletries and Men's shoes sizes 10 -12. Feel free to make your own purchases, but as in the past, I have greater buying power with bulk purchases. Donations can be e-transferred to me: krisgoodman@live.ca, placed in the offering plate, noting Undie Sunday on your envelope if cash or cheque or Giant Tiger gift cards. (Make cheques out to Kris Goodman with Undie Sunday in the memo line.) Mission Services appreciate any of our gifts that we bring and thank us for our ongoing support. This is a very real way that we can support those less fortunate than ourselves.

Psalm for the Week:
Psalm 150 from the Message paraphrased by E. Peterson
Hallelujah!
Praise God in his holy house of worship,
praise him under the open skies;
Praise him for his acts of power,
praise him for his magnificent greatness;
Praise with a blast on the trumpet,
praise by the strumming soft strings;
Praise him with castanets and dance,
praise him with banjo and flute;
Praise him with cymbals and a big brass drum,
praise him with fiddles and mandolin.
Let every living, breathing creature praise God!
Hallelujah!
Prayer for the week:
Living God,
long ago, faithful women
proclaimed the good news
of Jesus' resurrection,
and the world was changed forever.
Teach us to keep faith with them,
that our witness may be as bold,
our love as deep,
and our faith as true. Amen.
Prayer focus for the week: Pray for those grieving the death of Pope Francis.
