Calvary Compass – February 19, 2025 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca

Dear Friends of Calvary,

Hopefully you were able to tune into the Zoom Worship Service last Sunday instead of venturing out in the storm. We apologize if we were unable to contact you on Sunday morning of the change in plans to cancel the in-person service and switch it to Zoom. Old Man Winter is giving us a winter similar to several years ago. Hopefully you have been able to shovel out your porches, verandas, sidewalks and driveways.

Rev. Kerry is away from February 17th - 25th. If you are in need of Emergency Pastoral Care, please call and leave a message with Kim Knowles. She will contact the minister covering for Emergency Pastoral Care.

Bill Butt will be conducting our Worship Service on Sunday, February 23rd.

Worship Services are all live-streamed:

·                     February 23 – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDoGm3jgtcs

·                     March 2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bwu3IsnNHs0

NOTE: The same links will work to view the recorded service, in case you are unable to watch the live-stream.

 Bible Study:

There is NO Bible Study this week. It will resume on Thursday, February 27th.

Psalm for the Week:

Psalm 37: 1-5, 8  from the Common English Bible translation

Don’t get upset over evildoers;

    don’t be jealous of those who do wrong,

because they will fade fast, like grass;

    they will wither like green vegetables.

Trust the Lord and do good;

    live in the land, and farm faithfulness.

Enjoy the Lord,

    and he will give what your heart asks.

Commit your way to the Lord!

    Trust him! He will act.

Let go of anger and leave rage behind!

    Don’t get upset—it will only lead to evil.

Prayer for the Week:

O God, ruler of all the nations,

enable us to open our hearts with love and kindness

in the world that is turned upside down.  Grant us

compassion and humility as we care for each other and

this beautiful planet. Enable us to make room for all as

we reach out to family, friends and neighbours.

In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

Prayer focus:  Our biological and chosen families.
