Calvary Compass – January 3, 2023 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca
Dear Friends of Calvary,
Happy New Year! We hope that 2023 will be a good year for you and your family.
Rev. Kerry remains on vacation until January 15th. He will be back preaching on Sunday January 15th. Ruthanne McLagan will be conducting the worship service on January 8th.
Kim is back from vacation and working in the church office. If you have Emergency Pastoral Care needs, please call the Church Office and Rev. Michelle Owens will be contacted.
Congratulations to Ruthanne McLagan for completing all of the modules for the Lay Licenced Worship Leader Programme. Her next step is to be interviewed and recognized by Antler River Watershed Region. Already she has led worship services for at least a couple of United Churches in our region other than Calvary and has become popular at their pastoral charges.
Please note that Office hours have changed for Fridays and the office is now open from 9am to 12 noon. Regular office hours are Monday to Thursday, 9am to 12 and 1 to 4:30pm and Friday 9am to 12.

MITTEN TREE
Thank you to all who donated and made mittens, hats, scarves, and socks for the Mitten Tree. They are being taken off of the tree this Wednesday so that the items can get to the London Community Chaplaincy. The residents of Southdale and Limberlost will share equally in the donations.
Offering Envelopes
There are still several boxes of 2023 Offering Envelopes that have not been picked up. If you know the people on the boxes, please drop them off at their houses. It will save us postage to mail them.
If you need offering envelopes and there are none there for you, please contact Kim in the Church Office for some.

Psalm for the Week
Psalm 96: 10 -13 (new revised Standard Version)
Say among the nations, " The Lord is King!"
The world is firmly established; it shall never be moved.
He will judge the peoples with equity.
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
let the field exult, and everything in it.
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy
before the Lord, for he is coming,
for he is coming to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with his truth.
Prayer for the Week
O Holy One, source of every blessing, you showed forth your glory and
lead many to faith by the works of your son. Through him and by him
many were made whole and are at peace with themselves.
Continue to transform us by the Spirit of his love so that we
will continue to grow in him; Jesus the Christ: our friend,
teacher, and Saviour. Amen.
