We will be back meeting this week. The Committee has plans for various monthly speakers and different activities. Anyone who wishes to come to our weekly Wednesday afternoon meetings is welcome. If you want to try out pickleball, some meet at 11:30 am in the lower hall. If you are into playing card games, Scabble, helping make bedrolls or just socializing, you are welcome to join us at 1:00 pm. We are a friendly group.

On Wednesday, January 15th, we have someone coming to talk to us about Fraud Prevention. All are welcome to attend.

ANNUAL REPORTS

 Please write up your annual reports and send them to Kim by Tuesday, February 4th so that she can collate them and prepare the booklet containing the various reports before the Annual Meeting. Please note that submissions should use the Arial font and 12 pt. size. Do not format with page numbers, headers or footers.

Correction – Blue Community

In the December 2024 issue of the Catalyst, I submitted an article about Calvary working towards being a Blue Zone/Blue Community. I realized that an error was made because I used the terms Blue Zone & Blue Community interchangeably. Rev. Kerry pointed out at a council meeting that a Blue Zone is a region in the world where individuals live past the age of 100.  While this is an admirable goal, I was referring to Calvary working towards being a Blue Community, where we  work towards reducing and gradually phasing out using single use plastic water bottles at church functions. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.  Moving forward, any reference to this Outreach initiative will be referred to as BLUE COMMUNITY, not Blue Zone.  Thank you. Bonnie McNichol

Psalm for the Week:

Psalm 29: 1 - 4 from the Common English Bible translation

            You, divine beings! Give to the Lord -

                give to the Lord glory and power!

            Give to the Lord the glory due his name!

                Bow down to the Lord in holy splendor!

            The Lord's voice is over the waters;

                the glorious God thunders;

                    the Lord is over the mighty waters.

            The Lord's voice is strong;

                the Lord's voice is majestic.

 Prayer for the Week:

            How majestic is your voice, Holy One!

            You have spoken all creation into being.

            Speak to us now in the new year; open

            our ears, minds, and hearts. Speak, for your

            beloved children are listening. Enable us to be

            the light for all to see and behold. Amen.

Prayer focus: Those that are undergoing surgery.
