Singspiration Reunion, October 20, 2024

Calvary Compass – October 22, 2024 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca

Dear Friends of Calvary,

Thank you to the members of Singspiration and Kerry for a wonderful service on Sunday. If you did not attend church on Sunday or did not watch the service on Live-Stream, you need to watch it. Almost 50 years and yet they sounded as if it was in the 1970's. It was great to see some of their families in attendance.

Please be aware that if you plan to donate to Canadian Foodgrains Bank or the London Community Chaplaincy Walk-A-Thon, the due date for both is this Sunday.

Save the date:  Jazz Vespers returns on November 6th at 7pm.

Worship Services are all live-streamed:

October 27th - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88BrLF_SfQE

NOTE: The same links will work to view the recorded service, in case you are unable to watch the live-stream.

Recorded service for October 20th - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLFhuX8_rCQ

CALVARY'S BAZAAR

Our Fall Bazaar is just around the corner. The sale is Saturday, November 2nd from 9am - 12noon. Set up is November 1st starting at 9am.

Donations of jewelry, scarves and hats can be dropped off in the marked boxes at the back door of the church. Books, puzzles and games can be left or put on the stage downstairs. If you have been making crafts please let Pam Harrison know, so we can be sure to have enough table space. Gently used items can be dropped off the final week of October.

All baked goods are appreciated. They can be delivered to the church on the morning of November 1st ( to be packaged and priced). Items that tend to sell well are cookies, squares, small loaves, fudge, muffins, tarts, cup cakes ( rather than full pies and cakes) plus gluten-free baking. Liz Macdonald and Brenda Radforth will be looking after the baked goods.

If you have preserves, please let Mary Kannakko know. If you are looking for some jars to put your preserves in, there are some at the parking lot door in a box or in the storage room next to the Scout/Guide den. All kinds of preserves are welcomed.

If you haven't been asked yet to volunteer, please let Kris Goodman know and she will find you a job. Thanks to everyone that is helping with this year's venture. We really appreciate you! And don't forget to come and shop.

OUTDOOR CLEANUP DAY – Monday, November 4th

The Property Committee decided to do the outdoor cleanup Monday, November 4th. There is a yard waste pickup that week. Hopefully the Garfield pickup won't be on that Monday, but if we miss that week, there is a second starting on November 25th.

Please note that the outside water has been turned off.

Psalm for the Week:

Psalm 34: vs 1 -4 New Revised Standard Edition of bible translation

            I will bless the LORD at all times;

                his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

            My soul makes its boast in the LORD;

                let the humble hear and be glad.

            Magnify the LORD with me,

                and let us exalt his name together.

            I sought the LORD, and he answered me

                and delivered me from all my fears.

 Prayer for the Week:

            Creator God,

            you call us to love and serve You

            with body, mind and spirit

            through loving your creation

            and our siblings in Christ Jesus.

            Open our hearts in compassion

            and receive this prayer

            on behalf of the needs of the church and the world.

            In His name we pray.  Amen.
