 Calvary Compass – July 25th, 2023 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca

Dear Friends of Calvary,

Thank you to all who participated in the Pride Parade on Sunday.  It is important to support our fellow neighbours. Thank you also to Rev. Kerry who worked very hard to make sure that all of the United Church ministers and other people participating were fully aware of the plan and how to connect with others.

Rev. Kerry will be taking vacation in August starting August 5th. If there is a Pastoral Emergency, Rev. Wendy Noble will be covering for Rev. Kerry.  If you contact the church office, Kim Knowles or Nancy Hind will get in touch with her for you. The Worship Committee has arranged Pulpit supply for the Sundays that he is away. His first day back will be Sunday September 3rd. We hope that he has well deserved and restful vacation.

The next edition of the Compass will be Wednesday, August 9th. The Civic Holiday stat is August 8th for Kim.

Worship Services are all live-streamed:

PARKING LOT CLEAN UP

The Property Committee would welcome help this Wednesday morning (26th) starting at 9 AM to get the parking lot ready for repainting the lines. We need to remove debris from the pavement and plants from the edge that might effect the line painting. Marg LaRocque's brother-in-law is bringing his power washer on Wednesday to get rid of the sand deposits.

Gloria’s book has been included in best reads of the summer by the Globe and Mail, Publisher's Weekly, Scientific American, etc. She is the global climate and environmental correspondent at Reuters News Agency and lives in London, England.

Psalm for the Week:

Psalm 139: 23 -24  New Revised Standard Version Translation

Search me, O God, and know my heart,

test me and know my thoughts.

See if there is any wicked way in me,

and lead me in the way of everlasting.

 Prayer for the Week:

You are great, O God, and greatly to be praised.

Our hearts are restless until they rest in you.

Grant that we may believe in you, call upon you,

know you, and serve you through your Son, Jesus Christ,

            our Saviour and Teacher. Amen.
