Non-perishables needed for London Community Chaplaincy (Southdale location)
Currently there is a need for breakfast items at the Chaplaincy, such as cold cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter and juice boxes. The Outreach Committee is continually grateful for the generosity of the congregation. Please put your donations in the containers provided in the hallway and also in the bins at the back of the sanctuary. Thank you to Bonnie and Brian McNichol for taking our donations to the Chaplaincy.
UCW MEETING
The presentation about Calvary's stained glass windows of the west wall and stairwells will be Thursday, March 16th at 1:30 pm in-person in the sanctuary. The window talk will be followed by St. Patrick's Day snacks in the parlour. This event is hosted by UCW and EVERYONE is invited to attend. For those unable to attend in-person, the window talk will be on Calvary's Zoom at 1:30 pm and posted on our website later this month.
AFFIRMING
Today, March 14th, is PIE Day. There are different meanings of PIE. In Physics and Mathematics, pi is the constant ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, approximately 3.14159.
In terms of a treat, it is a circular pastry dish with a filling of delicious fruit or meat mixture that you can eat.
In terms of Affirming Ministry, PIE is an educational, discernment and decision process that helps a church become an Affirming Church:
PUBLIC: Using signs, symbols and words which echo inside and outside the church building in all facets of the church life.
INTENTIONAL: An Affirming Ministry is deliberate in their process of study, education and dialogue with members of their faith community. They ensure that the history of oppression and discrimination by the church is both understood and acknowledged, and that the continued growth, education and celebration are part of its ministry.
EXPLICIT: An Affirming ministry is clear about who is welcome. It welcomes ALL people no matter whether LGBTQIA2S+, people of different races or those with disabilities.
See the message from the United Church moderator Carmen Lansdowne inviting you to partake in Pie Day at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2f0n4x7zmM
In the next few months, the Affirming Committee hopes to present education and dialogue so all will have a better understanding of what it means to be an Affirming Church.
AFTERNOON MOVIE
The Affirming Committee is planning another after the Worship Service movie in the church parlour on Sunday March 26th. Please bring a bagged lunch. Coffee, tea, water and cookies will be provided. Come and enjoy "On the Basis of Sex - Ruth Ginsburg story" and the discussion afterwards.

Psalm for the Week:
Psalm 23: 5-6 (New International Version translation)
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
Prayer for the Week:
(from Voices United #110)
God of love,
as in Jesus Christ you have yourself to us,
so may we give ourselves to you,
living according to your holy will.
Keep our feet firmly in the way
where Christ leads us;
help our lips speak the truth
that Christ teaches us;
fill our bodies with the life
that is Christ within us.
In his holy name we pray. Amen.
