A NOVEMBER CHECKUP..... FOOD WASTE
DID YOU KNOW food makes up 45% of waste in London's landfills?
Most food could be EATEN, Redistributed, or Composted.
London's landfill is expected to reach capacity by 2024.
Top wasted food .... vegetables 30%
Fruit 15%
Leftovers 13%
Baked Goods 9%
Dairy/ Milk 7%
Food waste accounts for about 8% of all greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing food waste is crucial when addressing climate change.
How to REDUCE FOOD WASTE
Plan ahead. Buy from local sources. Don't overbuy. Share with others if you purchase in bulk.
Buy ugly produce (no need for stores to throw away). Eat leftovers (be creative). Store and label properly (freeze when possible). Best before date is not an expiration date! Compost when possible.
FOCUS on MINDFUL EATING
We need to listen to our bodies' cues. Enjoy our food but don't over consume. Throwing half away because we are full is wasteful and has become a normal way of life. We need to do better.

CALLED TO BE THE CHURCH
By now, everyone should have received their envelope with the questionnaire in regards to your future offering amounts and the Anniversary letter and envelope. Even if you do not plan to change your amounts, please bring your completed questionnaire back to church or drop it into Calvary's mail slot or mail it to the church. Stewardship and Finance uses the completed forms to help them with the 2023 Church Budget. All Committees have to have their proposed budgets in by the end of November so that Stewardship and Finance can review them and decide if those expenditures are possible in 2023.

Scripture Readings - Psalm 98 (VU 818); Luke 20: 27-38
Psalm for the Week:
Psalm 145: 3-5 NRSV translation
Great is God, and greatly to be praised;
God’s greatness is unsearchable.
One generation shall laud your works to another
and shall declare your mighty acts.
On the glorious splendour of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
Prayer for the Week:
God of love and comfort,
you lift us up in times of our joys and our troubles.
Fill us with your Spirit through the
gift of prayer, so that we might encourage
others with the good news that our Saviour
is with us in life and in death.
We give thanks for His saving presence
in our lives, this day, and every day. Amen.
