Calvary Compass – October 1, 2024 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca
Dear Friends of Calvary,
This Sunday, we will be celebrating World Wide Communion. There will be a Benevolent Offering. There will also be a free Friendship Lunch following the service. All are invited.
This Wednesday night Jazz Vespers returns at 7pm. Invite your friends to come to this informal worship service.
Singspiration is celebrating their Almost 50th Reunion the weekend of October 19th -20th. We will be able to enjoy their music at the Worship Service on Sunday, October 20th. In the 1970's, a group of Calvary and other like-minded young people formed a choir under the leadership of Mary Margaret Farrow and Mike Farrow with the name Singspiration chosen in 1975. The group performed frequently at Calvary as well as other locations including North Bay, Sarnia, and Chatham. They recorded an album and in 1982 members of the group presented Calvary with a stained-glass window. The group disbanded in 1986. Several of the members are still involved at Calvary and sing in the choir.

LONDON COMMUNITY CHAPLAINCY
The Outreach Committee will collect non-perishables for the London Community Chaplaincy throughout the entire year, with the exception of July and August. These items are all shared between both locations - Southdale and Limberlost - but are dropped off at Southdale location periodically, as they have the larger storage area. Occasionally, we will provide updates.
suggestions regarding items currently needed. Breakfast items, such as boxed cereals, oatmeal, peanut butter, juice boxes and nut-free school snacks (eg. granola bars and fruit cups) are some of the highest need items. As always, thanks for your continued support and generosity!

The event is free to the public with donations to London Pro Musica gratefully received and appreciated. Pre-registration is encouraged. Good footwear is a must. The nature walk will take approximately 50-65 minutes. The trail is of moderate difficulty, mainly flat though uneven terrain, with some hills and many tree roots. Psalm 26: 1 -3, 8, 11 -12, from the new English Bible translation
Vindicate me, O Lord,
for I have integrity,
and I trust in the Lord without wavering.
Examine me, O Lord, and test me.
Evaluate my inner thoughts and motives.
For I am ever aware of your faithfulness,
and your loyalty continually motivates me.
O Lord, I love the temple where you live
the place where your splendor is revealed.
And I have integrity.
Rescue me and have mercy on me!
I am safe,
and among the worshippers I will praise the Lord.
Prayer for the Week:
God of love and glory,
you provide all we need for our daily living.
Your blessings shower us in abundance.
Grant us hearts that overflow with thanksgiving
and praise as we continue to receive
your generous gifts of grace. Amen.
