CALVARY BAZAAR – Saturday, November 4th.
JEWELRY TABLE
Jewelry, purses, scarves and hats are now being accepted for the upcoming Calvary bazaar. Items can be left in the labeled boxes in the foyer off of the parking lot.
BOOKS
The bazaar is quickly approaching. Start gathering your donations of books both children's and adult's, CD's, and DVD's for the sale. Sorry, no VHS tapes. Your donations can be put on tables located on the stage.
PRESERVES
If you have preserves already made and want to bring them to the church, you can leave them on the stage and they will be put onto the shelves in the storage room. If you still want to make some jams or preserves, they are also greatly welcomed.
BAKING
Baking for the Fall Bazaar would be greatly appreciated. Everyone loves baked goods.
Favourites include tarts, cookies, squares, muffins and small fruit loaves.
They may be baked ahead and frozen or baked fresh and brought to Calvary's kitchen on Nov. 3rd for packaging.
Please contact Brenda Radforth (519-685-6196) radforth@hotmail.com or Liz Macdonald (519-663-5020) davidmac373@rogers.com if you are willing to bake.
Brenda and Liz have freezer space.
SECOND HAND ITEMS
Please wait a bit longer before bringing these items to the church. A notice will be in the Compass when you can bring these items to the church.
CRAFTS
If you are planning to make crafts or have made crafts for the bazaar, please give Pam Harrison a call to organize when to bring your crafts in. (519- 686-2559) twoharrisons@rogers.com
NOTWITHSTANDING CLAUSE
In Rev. Kerry's sermon on Sunday, he referred to the "Notwithstanding Clause". A few people at the Friendship lunch afterwards asked him what it meant. The following is a webpage from the CBC for more information:

Also Rev. Kerry has prepared a few excerpts from it to help you understand it better. It is in a pdf form for you at the bottom of the newsletter.
NON-PERSISHABLES FOR LONDON COMMUNITY CHAPLAINCY (SOUTHDALE)
We will be collecting non-perishables for LCC in October and November. Breakfast items in particular are needed. If you are able, please bring items to the church until Sunday November 26th.
FRIENDSHIP LUNCH
Thanks to everyone who stayed for a time of friendship at our Friendship lunch last Sunday. After expenses, the proceeds of $45 will be donated to the London Community Chaplaincy Annual Walk-A-Thon.

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy: 8: 7 - 8; Corinthians 9: 6 - 15;
Psalm for the Week
Psalm 65 (verses 1 -2; 11 - 13) from the common English Bible translation
God of Zion, to you even silence is praise.
Promises made to you are kept ---
You listen to prayer ---
and all living things come to you.
You crown the year with your goodness;
your paths overflow with rich food.
Even the desert pastures drip with it,
and the hills are dressed in pure joy.
The meadowlands are covered with flocks,
the valleys decked out in grain ---
they shout for joy;
they break out in song!
Prayer for the Week
With humble and grateful hearts, we give thanks to you, O God of generosity.
Your lavish hospitality extends not only to us but to the entire world and your
peace is an unquenchable fountain of love and comfort. Help us to be
compassionate as you are compassionate. Enable us to be more Christ like
to all those we meet and care for on our journey. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen
