Calvary Compass – September 13 - Calvary United Church, www.calvaryuc.ca
Dear Friends of Calvary,
It was good to see our parents and children back on Sunday for the Blessing of the Backpacks, the beginning of Sunday School and having some of our senior choir members back in the choir loft. This week, the Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and the Amabile choirs beginning their meetings and practises. AA has continued to meet every Wednesday night over the summer and now into the fall and winter. CHAMPION has started again and Calvary Bridge Group will be starting on September 27th. It is wonderful to see Calvary busy again with various groups and activities.

CALVARY GREEN
The March 20th Worship Service included a session on Calvary's efforts to "green" the environment. It focused on our pollinator garden initiative. We handed out lettuce and wildflower seed packets.
We hope you enjoyed the experience of planting these seeds. We are now asking you to send pictures of the results of the wildflower planting in your garden. If you took lettuce packages and consumed the produce, please forward any thoughts/reactions to planting these seeds and your success.
We wish to incorporate pictures and/or comments in either an upcoming service or on our Calvary Green section of the website.
Please forward your photos or comments/reactions to Kim at calvunitedchurch@execulink.com by September 14th.

Psalm for the Week:
Psalm 113: 5-8 NRSV translation
Our God lifts up the poor.
Who is like our God,
who is seated on high,
Who looks down
on the heavens and the earth?
God raises the poor from the dust,
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them sit with princes,
with the princes of God's people.
Prayer for the Week:
We come to you again, God of the cross, affirming that Jesus Christ
is our hope and salvation. In whatever ways you put us to the test,
we endure and in whatever joys we experience, may we trust that you
are with us now and forever. Amen
