BOOK REVIEW
Affirming - A Memoir of Faith, sexuality, and staying in the Church was written by Sally Gary and is available in Calvary's library
Sally knew since her early adulthood that she was attracted to women. In this deeply personal memoir, she traces experiences, conversations, and scriptural reading that culminated in seeing her sexuality as something that made sense within the context of her faith-not outside of it and or opposition to it. Sally invited other Christians to join her in re-thinking their views while holding fast to the love of Jesus and the truth of the Bible.
Sally Gray is founder and executive director of CentrePeace, a non-profit organization in Texas that has been helping churches and families have a Christ-like conversations about faith and sexuality since 2006. Sally is dedicated to serving queer young adults, helping them to know they are loved and that they belong everywhere.
MINI Series
CBC is showing a 5 part series entitled BONES OF CROWS starting on Wednesday, September 20th at 9:00 pm both on CBC Gem and regular CBC. It covers our First Nations people's story over the span of 100 years through the experiences of one woman and her descendants. The woman is fictitious but, as we know, the events are true. It will be an interesting mini series to watch.

Psalm for the Week
Psalm 105: 1 - 4 from the International Version translation
Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among nations what he has done.
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.
Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
Look to the Lord and his strength;
seek his face always.
Prayer for the Week
O God of mercy and love,
even when there are times of injustice in our lives
you continue to encompass us with love.
For the sake of the good news, examine our lives
and transform our failures and our misgivings.
Build us up through the love of Christ
dwelling within us. Amen.
